視覺化是指透過建立圖形或圖像，使訊息的交流溝通更方便的方式，圖像的表現是具有意義與功能的，如洞穴壁畫與象形文字等。而在生活中我們可以從觀察物品身上的線索來了解它的狀態，像是從顏色可以看出酪梨的成熟時間，從飛揚的旗幟可以看出風向的變化，將看不見的「時間」或「風向」視覺化。在Indexical Visualization這堂課中我們試著創造一個autographic machine 來將 _________ 視覺化。
Visualization refers to the way to make the exchange of information and communication more convenient through the creation of graphics or
images. The representation of images has meaning and function, such as cave paintings and hieroglyphics. In life, we can learn about the state of an object by observing the clues on it, such as the ripening time of an avocado from its color, or the change of wind direction from a flying flag, visualizing the invisible "time" or "wind direction". In Indexical Visualization, we will try to create an autographic machine to visualize _________.
如果我想要把聲音視覺化，要如何把聲音轉換成看得見呢？
If I want to visualize sound, how do I make sound into visible?
Speaking Behavior 說話觀察
我觀察了一下說話時會有什麼特徵，嘴巴是我們說話的工具，發現不同發音或文字會呈現不同的嘴型，像是我們在讀唇語時不用聽見聲音但可以知道意思。
I have observed the feature of speaking , the mouth is the tool, and I found that different pronunciations or words present different mouth shapes. For example, we don't need to hear the sound to know the meaning of a word when we are reading lips.
Record 紀錄
我試著記錄下各個英文字母的嘴巴形狀。
I tried to record the mouth shape of each letter.
Visualization 視覺化
我將嘴巴的形狀範圍繪製出來，為了讓圖形看起來整齊工整，將嘴型範圍修改對稱。然後將嘴型90度旋轉，就像是音波的效果一樣，音波也像是一種聲音視覺化的表現。
I drawing the range of mouth shapes .And in order to make the graph look neat and tidy, I made the range of mouth shapes to be more symmetrical. Then turned mouth icon 90 degrees, like an acoustic wave, it is also a visualization of sound.
Transformation 轉化
然後將嘴型icon 轉換成文字檔
Then transformed the mouth icon to a font file.
